Are you living with Peter Pan?

Are you living with Peter Pan?

One of the things that comes up in my coaching practice almost on the daily is the frustration a high achiever feels when in a relationship with  a “non-achiever”.

Achievement oriented people are work horses. They have stamina. Their endurance knows no end. They like being productive, getting things done, and feeling a sense of accomplishment.

Frequently, they are romantically attracted to more laid back people and for a while this balance works.

Until the workhorse hits a tipping point.

Maybe the life you’ve created is now too big for you to manage alone. Maybe you no longer want all this responsibility. Maybe you want a change of scenery.

But your partner is not able to step into your shoes. They are unable to juggle all that you do. And worse… they may not want to. It might feel like you are living with Peter Pan - the kid who never grows up.

This is a recipe for resentment. And if not dealt with, can really be the beginning of the end.
